You want to do your part to clean up the environment. You know that the gasoline engine is making our air unhealthy and ending up in our water. If you could only find an affordable solution you would be more than happy to get rid of your gas bill for your car. You can find an affordable electric car.
Our cars are an extension of our personalities. We have been sold that bill of goods our entire lives and we want a car that reflects our personality. I have no idea why the news media doesn’t tell us the things we need to know about getting our dream car and having it be electric powered.
Did you know that there are the car guys out there on the internet building electric powered muscle cars? Taking the old muscle cars and replacing their gas guzzling engines with electric efficient engines that cost hardly anything to run. The biggest expense is replacing the batteries once a year. They are for sale on the internet.
Some of these car guys have built solar powered electric cars. These guys have got what it takes to move you from your gas guzzler to an efficient electric car. They will convert anything your truck, van, muscle car or sports car and make it perform just the way it always has, since the day you bought it.
The fastest and heaviest cars take a little more engineering than the light weight models. To replace those big engines it usually takes two electric motors. You will also need more batteries so it cost a little more to get the same performance from your vehicle. The advantage is you can drive the car you desire and don’t have to give an inch when it comes to performance.
These car guys are happy to convert your car for you. They of course want to make money out of the deal. The most affordable way of going from gas to electric power is to convert your vehicle yourself.
Single women like myself that have no mechanical skills will probably have to pay for the conversion. I am going to try to convert my lawn mower before mowing season, this summer. I am studying on how to accomplish this task. Lawn mowers are one of the largest air pollution contributors. They have no emissions. That is going to be my first try at a solar electric conversion. If all goes well I may attempt my car next. I will keep you posted as to how well it works and if I fail to achieve my goal. For all you car people out there get converting something even if it just the lawn mower.
Nissan introduces the LEAF, the world’s first affordable, zero emission electric car. The medium-sized LEAF seats five adults and offers a range of over 160km.
The Nissan LEAF is powered by laminated compact lithium-ion batteries, which generate power output of over 90kW, while its electric motor delivers 80kW power and 280Nm torque. It will be launched in later 2010.
California based company Green Vehicles recently began selling an affordable $20,000 electric car called the Triac. The small but efficient 3-wheeled car has a range of 120 miles and can travel up to 70mph on the highway. Charging the lithium-ion batteries that power the 20kw electric motor takes about 6 hours, and there is an optional capacity boost battery pack available that extends the range by 20% (why not include it with the car?). The Triac comes in 8 different color combinations and is available from the dealership in San Jose
