Wounded Sacramento police dog survives 5-hour surgery SACRAMENTO, CA – A Sacramento police K-9 officer named Bandit underwent five hours of surgery Tuesday for a bullet wound that was more serious than initially thought. The 4-year-old German shepherd was shot while responding to a reported home invasion. Police said the suspected robber was later shot and killed by officers.
